SEK – Las Américas

The International School SEK – Las Américas opened its doors in 1996, with seven groups that comprised pre-school levels up to fifth year of Elementary Education. It was located in the Avenida Pedro Henríquez Ureña in the sector of La Esperilla.

Due to the great acceptance by the families of our Educational Project, in 2000, a new building was
inaugurated in Arroyo Hondo, in order to respond to the demand of new students and existing academic requirements, counting this building with large green areas, sports fields and swimming pool.

On May 15, 2015, the facilities of new sports center are inaugurated, in order to strengthen sports and recreation activities of its students. This sports center, is to expand and enrich the school facilities, thus providing greater and better training opportunities for students; comprising a 25 meters semi-Olympic swimming pool, a natural grass soccer field, two multipurpose fields, basketball and volleyball court as well as hall football and athletics field.

AT THE AVANGUARD IN TEACHING

In 2016, the establishment celebrated the 20th anniversary of educational work in the country, showing the Dominican family the importance of a comprehensive education for a global world in these times.

The SEK – Las Américas International School begins the process of teaching children with three-year-olds and continues with primary and secondary education.

Since 2009, the SEK – Las Américas School has incorporated the technologies in the teaching- learning processes, being a true example to follow in incorporating its proper use, being the first school in the city of Santo Domingo to introduce the first simulators of Digital slate (EBEAM).

In 2011, it introduced digital whiteboards in all its classrooms, from preschool to high school and since 2012, iPads; A tool that complements and strengthens knowledge in both children and young people. In 2013, SEK students begin to enjoy in the computer lab of HP One Touch computers, a state-of- the-art model, which, together with a complete wireless field network, Virtual Reality and Increased Reality Technology, and Video conference hall make SEK-Las Américas the most technologically advanced school in the city of Santo Domingo.

In order to guarantee the safety and full physical and emotional development of the students, the SEK guarantees an adequate infrastructure, with a psycho-pedagogical department, dining service,
transportation and a full-time doctor.
